Wigan manager Chris Hutchings has revealed he made a cheeky attempt to sign Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney on loan last week.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "We had a glass of red wine and I just said 'could we borrow Rooney?'
"I also asked what were the chances of taking (Carlos) Tevez and, when (Louis) Saha is fit again, could we have him for a few months as well!"
